It’s hard to believe that another year has slipped by. So much has happened in the past year as we have continued to grow, to host author events, to form alliances with other downtown cultural businesses, to be recognized as the place to go for delicious (and sometimes adventurous) hot and cold tea, to become the downtown destination for tabletop games, and to develop into a hub for the Billings’ literary and art scene.
April 8 will mark the second anniversary of the incorporation of the parent organization for This House of Books.
Do you know why our tagline says “your community-owned bookstore and tea shop”? It takes a community to make a project like this happen. We can’t just wait for someone else to do it—we each need to jump in and get involved.
If you want to be a part of this exciting project, it’s easy! This is not a subscription, it’s not an annual fee, and we hold no semi-annual pledge drives. Once you’ve purchased your share(s), you are a member-owner and we'll look forward to seeing you at our annual meeting each April!
We are immeasurably appreciative of the many people who took the risk of investing during the early and frankly uncertain days of the bookstore. Now that we are more established, the risks are less. We have stable management, we have paid down several significant debts incurred during our early days, and the future looks sunny. If you were waiting to jump into the world of member-owners, now's the time.
There is no better time to invest in your community-owned independent bookstore and tea shop in downtown Billings, Montana. Becoming a member-owner isn’t expensive; a single voting share sells for only $100. For the price of a dinner for two at a nice restaurant, you can have a satisfied feeling that will stay with you. If you want to be more involved, you can consider opting for a Preferred Share. These non-voting shares are limited to 1,000 and they entitle the shareholder to any dividends that we anticipate in the future.
