Author Event: Cal Cumin

Help yourself to a glass of wine and settle back to enjoy a reading and discussion of Dust in the Wind, a book of poetry by member-owner Cal Cumin on Friday evening, April 20, 2018, starting at 5:30 and ending with a book signing by the author. For those who do not want wine, our usual selection of teas will be available.

Dust in the Wind: Poetry for Our Time is a book of poetry about a love affair that occurred in the middle of a man's life. The poems describe the pain and joy it caused him. The title reflects the author's memory of the affair and his longing for the woman.

“The poems within are hauntingly beautiful as you're brought into the poet's world where he loves a woman who can never truly be his," one reviewer wrote. "Joy, lust, and heartache emerge from the pages, but most of all, the reader feels the poet's longing and love for the one who got away.”

A Billings native and Vietnam veteran, Cal has devoted his adult life to public service. He has been deeply involved in developing parks and recreation in Yellowstone County, and in developing our economic strength. In addition to the military, (retired Army National Guard intelligence analyst), and in addition to writing, his many interests include flying (private pilot), martial artist (black belt), SCUBA (senior diver), and his two companions—long-haired dachshunds Muki and Spike. The other light of his life is his daughter and her family also of Billings.  He lives on the prairie west of Shepherd.
