Class 1: "Out of the Sheets, Onto the Page: writing good sex scenes"

Friday, January 12 from 5 to 7 pm

Price: $45, payable at the door

Class Description

Sex is not always good, but it’s always revealing! Whether it’s fantastic, boring, strange, or predictable, sex is one of the most powerful unions we experience, and it shouldn’t be skipped or avoided in writing. On the other hand, a sex scene shouldn’t be included unless it serves a purpose, which is to illustrate the characters and the larger themes of the work. We’re not talking about porn, and we’re not talking about hallmarky stuff—we’re talking about genuine intimate scenes. To that end, this classy class will explore how to direct an honest gaze at this most fascinating activity and write a sex scene that doesn’t make you blush.
