Book Group: Accidental Gravity

We will be discussing Bernard Quetchenbach's new book, Accidental Gravity: Residents, Travelers, and the Landscape of Memory.

The book is a set of autobiographical essays dealing with our relation to the natural world. Although written in prose, it is easy to detect that Bernard is a poet at heart. The work is deeply felt and beautifully crafted.

Two of the essays in Accidental Gravity have been designated as Notable Essays by Best American Essays; one was featured on the NPR show Living on Earth. We will be focusing our discussion on these two essays:

  • "Canadas"
  • "The Woods Are Burning"
