Blythe Woolston, winner of awards for the books she's written for young adults, lives and writes in Montana. She was born in Missoula, grew up along the Blackfoot River, and studied at Montana State University—Bozeman.
Initially planning to study nursing, she abruptly switched her major to English at the last moment, teaching writing at MSU for more than 10 years. After leaving teaching, she herded computer manuals through the publication process and took a turn at indexing nonfiction works before writing her first book, quite by accident.
