Adrian Jawort

Adrian Jawort, a journalist for more than a dozen years and a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, crafts fine fiction and poetry.

In 2014 he also turned his talents to publishing with the release of Off the Path: An Anthology of 21st Century Montana American Indian Writers, Vol. 1, to which he also is an editor and a contributor. The Off the Path anthology series (there are now volumes I and II, with a third volume rumored to be in the works) gives Native American voices an opportunity to "just use our own voices as told by us, without any filters."

Selected as one of the "best and brightest" in the Billings Gazette "40 Under Forty", Adrian is co-founder with Russell Rowland of the Native American Race Relations and Healing Symposium, a recurring lecture series since August 2016 aimed at promoting dialogue about the history, effects, problems, and solutions to race issues between Native Americans and settlers in Billings.
